We're proud to announce the complete redesign and rebuild of Polaroid.com. The new platform aims to deliver a digital experience that captures the essence of Polaroid’s iconic brand.

It reflects the tactile, imperfect and analogue beauty that defines Polaroid, in contrast to a digital world that often prioritizes perfection. By bridging the gap between the hands-on joy of Polaroid’s products and the endless possibilities of the online space, the platform creates a place where creativity, community, and education come together. Built on Headless Shopify for ultimate flexibility, it delivers faster performance, and limitless customisation.

A digital platform that reflects tangibility

Polaroid, renowned for its dedication to real-world creativity, stands apart from the convenience of digital photography by offering an authentic, tangible creative process with a unique aesthetic. However, this tangible realness had yet to fully translate to their online presence. Our redesign sought to change that, transforming Polaroid’s digital platform into a place where this could thrive, and where both its product range and vibrant community could be celebrated.

Refining the design for a seamless user experience

We worked closely with Polaroid to refine its digital design language, aligning it with the various price points of their products while streamlining user navigation. By simplifying the navigation and improving the product listing pages, the platform now offers a more intuitive and engaging shopping experience.

Showcasing Polaroid in real life

A key aspect of the redesign was adding an emotional layer to the shopping journey. Real-life photography now plays a prominent role, showcasing how Polaroid products are used in everyday scenarios. The platform has been enriched with inspirational content, seamlessly integrated and cross-linked with product details and educational material. This approach combines Polaroid’s innovative product specifications with genuine, lived-in examples of the brand’s impact on everyday creativity.

To make the platform feel more human, we searched for rawness, imperfections and some poetic magic. We stepped away from the overly polished aesthetics, and created a fresh take on digital tangibility.

Building long-term connections through membership

To strengthen the relationship with its community, Polaroid developed the concept of a membership section, which we designed and brought to life. Created to foster a sense of belonging, the section offers exclusive benefits, including challenges, workshops, and community-driven content. This in-group experience provides members with special access to Polaroid’s creative world, deepening their connection with the brand.

Advanced technology for a future-ready platform

The platform was built with a headless approach, ensuring Polaroid is flexible and ready for the future. Shopify Plus serves as the main e-commerce engine, connected with Sanity for visual and easy-to-use content management. This integration provides the platform with rich storytelling capabilities, allowing Polaroid to create immersive and engaging content experiences. The custom-made membership and loyalty system leverages Yotpo, further enhancing the platform's ability to foster community engagement and reward customer loyalty.
