KLABU is an organisation that builds sports clubs in refugee camps and creates sportswear to raise funds. Our team crafted a new digital platform that not only showcases KLABU’s mission but also underscores our own commitment to creating impactful, emotionally resonant digital experiences. Through this platform, we sought to blend innovation with empathy, capturing the spirit of KLABU's work and inspiring a global community of supporters.
Social Mission Meets Brand Identity
The platform marks a pivotal moment for KLABU, uniquely positioned as both a non-profit organization and a social enterprise. From the outset, Build in Amsterdam recognized the importance of KLABU's twin roles in shaping its brand strategy. The new platform reflects this dual mission, seamlessly integrating KLABU's social impact with its sportswear offerings, thereby inviting visitors to play their part.
A Tactile Design Language
The digital platform brings together design elements inspired by KLABU's physical sportswear and its emblematic team badges rich in symbolism. For example, the COX'S Bazar Spirit badge, unites the Rohingya refugees and Bangladeshi locals through clasped hands. The sun symbolises hope and the waves stand for the long coastline that is a pride of the Cox's Bazar's community. Shop the KLABU x Paris Saint-German jersey via this link. This approach allowed Build in Amsterdam to create a digital platform that's rich in texture and meaning, bridging the gap between the physical and digital aspects of KLABU's brand.
Building Real Connections
Central to the platform is the “Unbeatable Spirit” narrative of resilience and strength, echoing not just the lives and stories of the refugees KLABU supports, but also their dreams, goals, and the vital need for their voices to be heard. These powerful narratives are given a prominent place on the platform, forging a deeper connection between customers and the significant impact of each of their purchases.
Fostering Engagement Through Playful Interactions
The platform is designed to engage users in a playful yet meaningful manner, encouraging support for KLABU through sportswear purchases, donations, and more. This interactive approach serves to deepen the connection between the users and KLABU's mission, making every visit to the platform more than just a shopping trip, but in fact inspiring action.
Capturing the spirit of the KLABU world and translating our vibrant community and mission into a digital format was our main challenge. Build in Amsterdam guided us throughout this process with knowledge, passion and dedication. The result is a unique online platform and clubhouse to build real connections, grow our club and support many more refugees around the world.
Name, Position at Company

Inspired by KLABU's impactful mission, the team at Build in Amsterdam embarked on this project as a "gesture of our support, offering our services to bring their vision to life.” said Daan Klaver, Creative Director and Founder at Build in Amsterdam. “In creating the platform, we aimed to capture and express KLABU's unbeatable spirit in every pixel and interaction. The result is a digital clubhouse, a universal space that unites everyone under the banner of resilience and community".
